Is a poet a product of the circumstances, or one is born to be a poet, if all a man desires in his heart is fulfilled then will he be ok, or he will still crib for something which is not there? A poet is a poet, his circumstances are responsible to an extent that he recognises his art a bit earlier but he the poet is a poet, what if Ghalib was rich and none of his children had died, and yes he had all the women he had wanted to have relationship with would he had been 'Ghalib' the poet then?
His Ghazals talk about such things which a man in his condition would not have even dreamt, they go beyond the personal afflictions (in fact while in deep financial crises matters of the heart were of more concern to him) to reflect the pain of the reader which is lies dormant but revives to life after finding company in his couplet, his conditions may be was responsible to begin, but what was written was much beyond that, it almost feels they were destined avatars who descended to write something or write something leave it in the world to lure someone into this game, to write… for a poet writing is he last veil which secrete God, but for a long time he he likes to solve the mysteries of God in he same intangible they were created, then one day with a smile he just shifts the curtain to get lose himself in the purpose of his verses.
